Event Description

Join us May 9 for the first Iowa 140 Character Conference.   The key focus of the conference is on how real time technology (twitter, Facebook are two examples) is changing business, agriculture, media, education, sports, celebrity – everything.

There will be speakers from all over the world – and local speakers too.  Speakers present in 10 to 20 minute segments.  The day moves quickly and lots of voices are heard.   The event runs all day and costs $40 for early bird registration. Full registration cost is $60. High school and college students will be $10. For those who cannot attend in person, this conference will be live streamed on the internet.

The #140conf events provide a platform for the worldwide twitter community to: listen, connect, share and engage with each other, while collectively exploring the effects of the emerging real-time internet on business.

The format is unique and fast-paced. Presentations are limited to 10-20 minutes each, to permit as many people as possible to share their stories. Presenters are selected to stimulate discussion across a wide range of sectors including: business, agriculture, government, tourism, education, entertainment, non-profit and more.

Many of the presenters are Social Media Club Des Moines members, including Nathan T. Wright, Michael Libbie, Derek Balsley, Claire Celsi, Angela Maiers, Ben Stone, Jeff Caldwell, Jody Halstead, Jon Thompson, Josh Fleming, Karen Smith, Lindsey Smith, Melynda DeCarlo, Michelle Schlicher, Sam Schill, Sandy Renshaw and Shannon Miller

My fiance is buying my ticket to the 140 Conference as a Mother's Day gift from our 2-year-old! That is what a nerd I am!

I went through ticketmaster and paid $20.45 for the student ticket.  There were several other fees attached.  It is still worth the price to me!  I will see everyone on Monday :)

Hi everybody - so many questions!

  1. Live Streaming fee?
  2. Recorded archive?
  3. Room for another speaker?
  4. If I can't get there until 9:30 - what will I miss?
  5. Pay at the door?

How do we RSVP or pay for this event?  I am a student and the ticket master link on the website does not offer that option?  I tried to message Claire and the link is broken.

Nathan Wright and Deb Brown are the organizers. Not sure if there is a fee to watch. I think it's free.
