Mike T. suggested that this be posted in a separate discussion thread and it is a very good idea.  I also need to expand and clarify some of the topic points.

 

There are some guidelines I would like to follow during this election process:

1. No person administering the election process may be a candidate.
2. Self nominations are welcomed.
3. Any candidate who is not self nominated will confirm they are willing to serve in the role.

4. Anyone running unopposed for a position will automatically win.  If there are two or more candidates for any position, then the membership will vote on who will fill that slot.  The person receiving the greatest number of votes for a specific position will be declared the winner.
5. In the event of a tie vote for any one position, the winner will be determined by a coin flip.
6. The nomination window will last for three days.
7. The election will be administered electronically.
8. The election window will last 24 hours.
9. If there are no nominations for a specific position, then the president will fill the position by appointment.

The positions are:

President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Communications Director
Programming Director
Partnership Director
Production Director
Membership Director

Instead of expanding the thread with nominations, please send your nomination privately to me and then I'll go through the confirmation process and post.  Please contact me directly through the messaging feature on this site or you may contact me at burnleyj at gmail dot com (you all should know how to translate that).

Unless anyone objects, we'll use the roles presented in this thread and nominations are now open. Nominations will close this Friday at 5:30 PM CST.

Thanks for kicking this off, John. I appreciate your willingness to help. I think you've done a great job outlining the process. Now we need to get people to start nominating.

Being the Fusionista for Social Fusion I strongly feel that the Communications Director would not only be best suited for me, but also a great area I could lend my expertise. I would like to formally nominate myself for the position of Communications Director and ask for the support of the members to help bring the Social Media Club to its greatness.

If you feel there would be a better candidate I would like to nominate myself as a second option for Membership Director. For my main company Transcendental Web Services I have acquired a great deal of connections with locals, travelers and others in the surrounding area. I think my networking skills would also be utilized here in a great capacity. I also have expertise in Membership as the Membership Director for the Jaycees or Junior Chamber Intn’l. I was also involved in the DSM Jaycees and launched Speed Networking here in Des Moines.

I would be honored if you voted me into either of these positions but Communications Director would be my first love and choice!
I'll toss my name into the mix for anything below the top three on this list. Plug me in where needed.
Nominations are now closed. Thank you to everyone who submitted nominations and promoted the election via various social media resources. I will confirm with nominees this weekend that they will serve, if elected, and post the ballot early next week. We plan to host the election electronically, with more details coming early next week. Again, thanks to everyone for their help in this process.
