Social Media Club Des Moines

If you get it, share it

Hi All - as your new programs director, I'm on the hunt to help bring the type of programs you'll find valuable, interesting or just plain cool.

As always, we're open to suggestions. Cheap is good -- we're not yet in a position to pay to bring in big-time speakers. Plenty of good talent and thinking nearby. If you have insights, please share them below. If you'd rather connect offline, shoot me an email at zebradan [at] gmail.com.

oohhh Chris reminds me of a good point: the power of Google Reader! I can see a discussion on social media tools to make life easier:

Google Reader
Hootsuite
Google Alerts
etc
Agreed -- I'm trying myself to get my RSS life in order -- Ben Stone seems to be a good resource for this.
Another thought -- Who all went to South by Southwest recently? I'd like to get a few of these people on a panel discussion just to pick their brains. My perception is that SXSW covered lots of geo-location mobile apps such as Foursquare, Gowalla and Yelp (perhaps others). I'd love a deeper dive on that. Let me know if you went to SXSW or know of someone.
We had two people from our office attend SXSW this year. Our last three blog posts have been covering their experience in Austin.

Some sort of panel discussion on this would be great. Also, sooner rather than later would probably make the most sense.
Agreed while the fire is hot, so to speak - please bounce this off Jarad and Abby to see if interested.
I agree! I am dismal at LinkedIn!
Hack bloggers like me are still perplexed on how to use plug-ins, changing things to spruce up our websites/blogs and if someone, like me, who wants to change my blog URL in WP, but that would mean not being able to move my archives over to the new URL.
Also add Tweet Deck. I have no idea how to use it. I don't want to just follow a list.
